what issues !? it was a nightmare of a course. although the professor was one of the best

the stuff he talks about are so philosophically-oriented and im no thinker~ well, only to a certain extent. why oh why. mostly about popular culture and the origins of rock and roll music..

and i had to buy so many story books for it too.

NOW what am i gonna do with them! its just left sitting around.

or shall i burn 'em?

excellent excellent. i do not hate this course. maybe because it was once a week. and all too easy.

i would usually just rush through the non-mandatory labs, and get terrible on the lab exams.

Result-wise.....

not very good as anyone could tell.

but not to a point where i would fall into the deep pits of depression, oh no.!

does that mean i don't care about my own education??? perhaps.

Things did go on fine after that dreadful start of a school year though, so its not like all hope has been lost, hahaha i always believed that !!

i did realize that the campus is preeetty big. and there were days where one class would be on opposite ends and i would have only ten minutes to spare to get to the other end of the school.

i also realize that it smells like shoes somewhere around the AQ.

The first day

Most days you just want to skip through and some you want to savour it until it ends.

But the first days of anything is a bit of a mixed bag. at least..for me.

Today was my first day

My first lecture was Biology in a 500 people hall.

and well its only 50 minutes !

so my tuesdays really only takes me 50 minutes and i am free for the day !

I met some people and there were freebies all around.

Grab Grab Grab it all....

Had free pancakes too, how generous,

but

considering that we pay an exorbitant amount of tuition fees, that's the least you can do for us students !

Orientation last week was, not helpful....

in providing me the mental image of the campus i wanted.

i need to get my bearings and use campus slang...

I still get lost every now and then, realizing that i have been walking rounds twice, luckily there was a nice security/tour guide lady giving directions to lost students.

But even then, her thick accent does cloud my hearing a little, so i would just reply with a nice thank you and have a nice day.

It is sad to leave a place we have inhabited for quite some time now, but new prospects await !

The Dutch Rennaisance.

I went to the Vancouver Art Gallery today.

equipped with no understanding of art history whatsoever.

The Dutch paintings were on, its these mind-blowingly detailed oil paintings which just really makes one wonder, "is this really human made ?" crazyyy

I like the service they provide too, the gallery has these audio devices that help explain the paintings, thus giving much meaning as to why it was painted and the artist's history.

Its amazing how one artist creates silver shadings and natural looking reflections by using just the three primary colours!!

It makes me want to aspire to become an artist, but since i can draw kindergarden level drawings such as mr stick-man and companions, mr stick-man's friends, there is really no point in trying

I can only drool and dream of drawing at least a decent sketch of any inanimate object.

yes yes, such is the petty dreams of mine.

But i like Vancouver downtown. its bustling with people albeit the dusty construction going on almost everywhere. shops are much bigger and better but of course being the tourist traps they are,

Well, the shock was incomprehensible to me that time.

i had no prior knowledge to the idea of migrating.

my mommy did not tell me anything,

She did not even tell me that she had applied for a freaking transfer at any given time.

And i still remember that it happened right after returning from that school camp.

some may perceive Friday The 13th as a day of MISFORTUNE, and i have no idea why it is so.

psycho teacher wasn't acting that psycho today....she baked cookies for the class, oh how nice.

i got a rather satisfactory mark in English Midterm...!
finally the 5 out of 6's are flowing in (not marked by my Eng Teacher)

I am particularly happy about getting good marks in English, evidently it is my weakest subject.

i wonder why....i speak it all the time, and i read and write using it.

but, it was also that class that got me into reading more often as well, so there are two sides to a coin.

its that time of the year again..the beginning of winter.
well not to say that it has already started snowing, but the colder winds definitely made its debut earlier during the week haha...

I, for one, hate the snow very deeply and maybe it is fun to watch it fall, and occasionally look to the ground to see how much accumulated.....and finally noticing that it was a perfect waste of time.

Lucky for this part of this country that it doesn't snow that much..that makes commuting easier....

With the added pressure of tests and such, one can only get so much sleep per night....
hahaha here's something interesting.

A. “Fetus” sleeping position is the most common and proved to be adopted by 41% of people. Those, who like curling up while sleeping, are trying to look tough on the outside, but usually are kind-hearted and sensitive underneath. Such people frequently have lack of self-confidence when they meet new people, but soon they start feeling more relaxed and communicate more freely.

Biology class is probably the worst class i have ever been in...
and i thought the last bio teacher was bad..

this one takes the crown, most definitely, for being the teacher who is useless-ignorant-inefficient.

her incompetence amazes me sometimes and how she continues to retain her teaching role? i have not the slightest clue...go retire la !

biochemistry is probably the worst part of the course and she does not even teach properly!
whats good about giving out questions and then expecting people to understand just by reading through the text.
teach.. ....teach ! that's what you're there for !

A Case of two-identities.

i've always felt like two person all at once...

ever since i've stepped foot here not too long ago, well i don't feel like i belong here at all.
the amount of changes are enormously overwhelming.
so from there came out the second persona, well really it comes sort of naturally, its a by-product of adaptation..

the cultural norms and such,

uhh i still dislike the strong question-statement ending accent that they always attach to at the end of the sentence...
not everyone does it annoyingly though,

the ones that do, always and usually are downright irritating to the core........
haha especially my chemistry teacher, and she talks loudly too, further enhancing the irritation....lol!

so to learn how everything worked, it was, and still is a task i definitely hated doing.
really, there is not a remedy for this but time...

i can't really talk normally like i do,
so there is the restriction therein itself...
uhh imagine the barrier....

A: what lah ! like that also can ?
B: uhh what the hell are you saying man ? is that a new language ?

so i envy those who are able to find others who are from the same country...
country mates eh...

with the talk of University in one of my classes, i am starting to get wandering thoughts scaring the **** out of me..
not that i am gonna change my mind of ever entering, but the what if statements are clouding the future i seem to envision previously...

what if, no-one is going to accept me..?
what if, i do not qualify ?
what if, i lose my interest halfway and quit...

so many so many....
i can't afford to slack away anymore, i can't afford to be in a state of ignorance..

i cannot betray anyone's expectations...especially my parents..

finally !

the second week was definitely the better one because everyone knows everyone already...

The Capilano Suspension Bridge...what an awful place for one who's scared of heights..

after that was the canopy walk....also high up....and again, why is it not falling...?

this girl ah...freaking stalker, takes a lot of shots but blurred wan...cursed camera i guess..

and this was the salmon hatchery but it ain't the season for the salmon to swim up !
so it was only a boring ol' river with some leaves falling in it.
Although there was a nursery nearby, the hatch-lings, swimming around in captivity, waiting to grow up and soon become sushi...sad story really ...

SO frustrating..
it is impossible to learn two languages at once...the vocabulary terms are just too much.

Mandarin and Japanese.. uh i suck at both

although familiar characters are distinguishable between the two,
Mandarin got one sound for each character right..
but Japanese, most of the time, have a few more syllables for the same character..

心 in mandarin = "xin"
in japanese = "kokoro"

ahaha i can only think of this particular example !

the experience with the Japanese students had been an awesome one so far ....
they are just so entertaining to watch and talk to (practicing my almost nonexistent Jap...)
its pretty much cutting paper, going photocopying, more cutting...

ah the two week work experience program thing started today,

today was orientation day for the 70 plus Japanese students that just came into the country a few days ago.....sigh, they speak very good Japanese, but hhahaha almost nonexistant English..

there were quite alotta volunteers,

Yee Soo, first time i met a korean girl who is so fluent in Japanese.....aww envy

Technically, it is june...and i thought that the heat would get to me by now..but the weather is so inconsistent nowadays..
its still a jacket-wearing weather, and well its doesn't feel like school has ended at all.
i don't feel free...i need to feel free ! haih....

i am not writing the physics final exam ! wooh..such a scary thing to do that is, i hate that subject.
i was so close! i hate accumulated stress, and i hate the void that i feel right now !

april's been busy...
no maybe i was lazy, a fusion of lazy and busy...is buzy !!

highlights of april//

~April the 8th - Social studies field trip.
To victoria, the island off the coast of vancouver, kinda small but still manages to be the capital of british columbia..

Probably the title is more appropriately replaced by "the most boring trip on earth"
transportation took almost 1/3 of the whole time.
it is a pain to commute with buses, especially crappy ones because they are cheap and the school is poor.

the ferry however was okay.. it was huge. been in one loong time ago, but that time was much better b'cause the winds are soothing..not unlike the cold, bitter ones ...

okay okay so...the first part was to wake up at a F***ing early time, i daresay 0430 am
walk walk on to the courtyard and it began to drizzle, wow an ominous sign..haha ! it was raining all the way there !! damn that!

the schedule goes like this...

school to some bay (bus)
some bay to another bay (ferry)
another bay to Victoria (bus)

process repeats itself going back to the school.. fuuh and that took a painstaking 3 hours ?
not to mention that there was a worksheet due at the end of the trip,
some of questions included

The name of the bus driver ?
The name of the bay ?
how many farms did you pass on the way ?

Sigh ! finally ! and off we go to start a scavenger hunt ! take photos of stuff that is supposedly historically significant to the country. then make a scrapbook out of it ! damn you sokugawa !

another physics project

awesome awesome one but i did not have any part in making the catalpult haahah
i kinda feel bad for the one who did everything. but the testing was hilariously entertaining.! unlike the spaghetti bridge. this one actually is an effective one !

A: there was a cheater amongst the brotherhood of catalpults, mi'lord
B: well, where is it !?
A: its uhm there .....*points*

and he pointed to a freaking slingshot !

not the actual product...
just for imagery purposes..

and that, clearly is a blatant violation of the rule !
there is a reason they call it the "catapult project"
not "Make anything that can shoot !"

and this is a damn catapult !

and again, not anyone's...

And so the teacher disqualified it and the stupid slingshot managed to shoot the furthest some more !

one was made out of metal and they used a rubber tire to hold and fire it ....hahaa and it broke !

Although it is the middle of spring,
i still feel the cold wind's sting,
and yet while we call it spring,
snow fell till lunch bell's ring..

The Spaghetti Bridge...
wow.. how time consuming is that ?? well it actually took at least 3 days,
tedious work constructing it too, the teacher...while never doing it himself, handed out this cursed assignment and well, what to do...but do it right ??

MR. glue was apparently too 'strong' for the spaghetti and it actually wore it down..
bad bad choice...oh well, its history

Day 1

Okay okay we got the base done...and some useless supporting stilts still covered in "takes one day to dry !" glue...oops one dropped.

Day 2

Woot Woot...another layer done...with additional support ...all is well eh...
ah...the hair dryer there...hah...to dry the glue wan...but to no avail...it does not work!

Day 3

Ah the feeling of accomplishment, the satisfaction of constructing a......
worthless bridge! look at that ! its crooked...looks cheap...but but but remember, this is three days people !! Three damn days ..

and so came
Testing Day,
you know....while watching other bridges in display, the feeling that our bridge being the most inferior one was certain...hahaha we were the first to go too...imagine the tension.

look at the solid bridges...

Yes yes spot the weakest looking one....i'm you'll sure to find it quickly.

The sturdiest bridge of them all...capable of holding a mind-blowing 25 kilograms..i think~

This one looks cool too...intricate design..i don't even want to guess how long this took them.

and Ta da~ Handiwork reduced to smithereens...in the end, it held....2 kilograms...mind you, it is 2 whole kilograms...
hey hey that is not so bad okay ? some other bridge got a mere 1.3 kilograms... doesn't feel too bad now.

efficiency ratio = weight supported/weight of bridge
= 19.6 Newtons/3 Newtons
= 653.3%

Haahaha 653 percent efficient !!
but thats most probably wrong...but its an awesome number...

i am beginning to feel like a fish...a fish in an aquarium, day by day staring at its own reflections, wondering what might it be living in the ocean instead....haha well that was a bland metaphor!

okay! i am torn now between deciding whether i should take computer science or geography...
haih....there was this one teacher that came in during class and gave a short introductory speech about what geography is really about, ah its a mixture of a bit of bio, statistics, some graphing..
well..that sounded a bit interesting i must admit, aiks but then i found out that my socials teacher might be teaching it too next schooling year..

so it is "damn, i dont want him to teach me!" because he is a bad model of a teacher..
haahah really just giving out notes and reading it out aloud while presenting to the class while we jot em down really fast as if he had something better to do later on..

yeah, the sun shining through the seemingly lifeless land -- just perfect..

Searching frantically for any signs of the possible school closure just about anywhere...
internet, radio, television...whatever that works !

it was endlessly snowing ! what more with the snow leftover yesterday, it piled up quickly as expected ...i feel so lazy just walking out. But NO ! school was still open..

It was such a chore..it felt tiring and sluggish..resulting in a terribly unproductive day...ahaha Socials was the worst with less than half of the class present.. i guess its just proof of the teacher's unpopularity ohohoho~ that stingy japanese dude, although i don't mind him, the workload is ridiculous.

I thought burnaby north was the 'smart' school so to speak, but most students suck with how they are content with a 50 percent(considered a pass)
what really, is the point of studying..if skipping classes and whining endlessly is all they can do.

ah there was one day i remembere, when the chemistry substitute told of his own personal experience in university..yada yada yada and that actually scared me a little.
okay starting to have a bit of a second thought...university (yes or no ??)

so then my actual teacher came in today and haha with a happy go lucky carefree attitude..
..and after a bunch of explaining...maybe uni is not so bad after all ?
see, that is what a good teacher is supposed to do....encouraging your students eh ?

that substitute is quite the sadist..maybe he's just promoting colleges..

an exceptionally cold day !!

the grass was all covered in frosty ice...all white! how surprising....and mah fan..

melted anyway in the afternoon.

At one point
i felt like i was doing horribly in everything academic(i still do..)
but today i got my essay back and it was a 5/6 !
ahaha that certainly lifted my spirits a little..

The 2006 Awards Night DVD....watched it but not till the end though...pathetic piece of crap!

looking back made me realize how much i miss the old but yet not very distant past.hm..
oh yeah what do i miss exactly ? haha lets list it out..

1) Old House. oh how convenient it is to just walk to carrefour to get a few things.
2) i actually do miss Autumn..it feels better playing it than autumn nombor dua
3) Wasting away after school hours. i can still vaguely remember Noel's screaming and shrieking after LOsing eh eh ? to me hahaha !
4) oh yea. the Crazy Drivings by Eugene. haahah...
wei i need to wear seatbelt even if i'm sitting at the back of the car eh...limited to one seatbelt a person...so cant cramp more than three...haih.

6) Weather..sounds unlikely but yes i think i do miss the weather.

However, it is 'time' that we want so badly and yet we use it so thoughtlessly and most of the time, recklessly.

Four seasons~

Would it be much more interesting with the four seasons or by just having a straight season all year long..

i am going to fail my Bio...that was the worst i have done in a test...
i am left clueless with the questions, haha but one funny thing was the substitute teacher...
he is so 'china man' the one that sells stuff in the morning market kinda guy.

The fog is settling down at a lower level than usual... it is much more dangerous to walk around now....ahh but it is so beautiful to watch as it lingers around....
i wonder how winter depression works eh ?
when the snow falls, you tend to cry more? being inclined to suicidal thoughts ?

I hate snow.

weather update:

the floor is filled with leaves and they fall every second of the day...and now there is a new equation

something that really annoys me is the typical canadian kid accent...there is nothing more annoying than that to me currently.
some people would be extra annoying and some are moderately okay but still. it is very very unbearable..
every sentence would start of low then progresses to a higher tone making it sound similar to a question-like tone and then add tons of 'like, like, like' ....ta dah..you've got yourself a generic version of the accent.tsk tsk tsk..

Okay now would it be better to be a vege-tarian or a meat-tarian ?
i was looking at my andreas' lunch and he's got a tupperware full of lettuce..damn thats weird..
eating raw lettuce haha...
but well in the long term i suppose it is healthier..but how do you grow ?
no meat whatsoever in your diet...nothing but wheatgrains, much vege's and uh yeah..
i can't help but to list out pro's and con's

Firstly, the pros
1.You don't need to worry about 'the ethical part' of how the meat was obtained.

2.There's actually not much cooking.
haha vegetables are best eaten in raw form ! refreshingly fresh

3.hmm..it is really good for health..might live a lil longer too

4. ..stupid music...i can't think already...okay skip.

and here comes the cons
1.How in the world would you grow properly especially in this stage of development ?

2.Missing out on great food ? ooh the succulent steak and serious seafood.(haha can't find something else to rhyme with seafood correctly)

3.You are actually eating a once-living animal...doesn't it hurt your conscience even a tiny little bit to do so ?

ahaha that was pretty short..okay so somehow i am convinced that being a vegetarian yields a great number of benefits and i really admire those who can abstain from meat entirely, that is something i don't think i can do...
the best i could do would be a less meat, more vege kinda diet.

Is there more to just living following a routine day by day...?
There is always a want for adventure...out there where the unknown occur, where an endless journey begins... i don't want to be subjected to the same old monotone routine, at least that is what i think...i pray that would happen someday.

enough moping and more err, studying..
i dislike studying to the ...it stimulates the brain and makes it work..
its soo tiresome...haha, i am too lazy to think...

i am never taking another physics type course again...lab work was counting and graphing, which i believe waste tons of time and precious energy,
its not like i'm gonna wonder how fast that mercedes is going on the road from that point to the other.. who wants to know that ??

How it sucks to have a substitute teacher...they mostly just sit there..then maybe,
walk around making sure everyone is doing their thing.
and you learn nothing eh...but sometimes it helps haha especially in classes as silly as socials and monotonous as math..

clubs day which was today, it is to promote the clubs and to lure unsuspecting passer-bys into their group...oh yeah! then eat them...in cannibal club
some of the clubs were pretty good with their objectives and such...
like the leos club, its an environment club i guess( save trees! recycle or die!) stuff like that..then there's MAD club basically stands for Making a Difference..
they do stuff like collecting donations for the poor and hmmm make a difference??
the anime club was quite extravagant...with cosplays and stuff..

akatsuki itachi ! hahaha that one was funny..it was a girl..
scary big one too...haha..another was a guy dressing as what i thought was Tifa..
and again...that was pretty odd..that wraps today up pretty much

phew one week gone finally !
so tiring and long laa.....especially cold today...was around err 3 to 5 degrees... shivering brrrr !
what in the world ?! it isn't supposed to be so cold yet....if this goes on eh, it would continue till february at least...winter season is supposedly november to feb...
crap.gonna be waking up shivering again

something particularly funny today was my 'sensei' there was this one video that lasted 5 minutes rambling bout japanese cuisine( ahh i remember the japanese buffet !) then then she shouted
"ah my favourite!!" tempura !!" all so sudden and proceeded with kinda smothering the tv screen ahahaha...a lil later there was another scene of a person holding a sushi who appeared to have put too much sauce...
she shrieked "eeeeeeeeehh!" and later trembles abit...
the whole video wasn't entertaining at all but the teacher was !!
i guess she just misses her homeland...sighhhh

Today was awful....as i started off with bio...i haven't a clue what teacher nerd was talking about...
maybe a lil but not the whole idea...argh...that makes me feel somehow incompetent
yeah and later there was a test in social studies.. it was all about canadian government, which really really doesn't matter to me or should i say i don't give an ais kosong about it ...so i really think that i flunked it...some questions didn't make any sense and well...30 minutes for two writing topics ?!?! thats way too little time..you inconsiderate teacher
and so yeah quizzes and more tests...my lil brain don't wanna do any of it tsk...
